Watchmen
I have a link to YouTube.
Empire Online puts it up tomorrow (7/18) morning.
The internet exploded for the second time this week.
EDIT: It will be going up a 9 AM GMT tomorrow. It should be up by 6 PM EDT time tonight.
Terminator Salvation has a trailer. I eat words.
Yahoo Movies has the Terminator Salvation teaser.
Who ever shot and cut that trailer? I hope they’re directing the movie.
Addition to Terminator cast
Helena Bonham Carter is the newest member of the Terminator Salvation cast. I for one have been skeptical of the newest flick, mainly due to the director, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised when I do see it. However, casting Christian Bale was definitely a step in the right direction. Carter’s role hasn’t been given a name yet, but has been described as “small, but pivotal.” Hmmm. Bale elaborated a little on the project at a junket for The Dark Knight:
“In a similar fashion to what Chris [Nolan] did with Batman Begins, in the reinvention. With Terminator - clearly it’s not an origin story - as with Batman Begins we were saying this is the first story, we’re ignoring the others.”
…
“Terminator, no, you have to recognize the mythology that’s already there. But, it’s our responsibility as the filmmakers and there is no point in making it if we’re not going to evolve it, revitalize it and reinvent it. It needs that, it has to happen, otherwise it won’t be successful from a creative point of view.”
Sounds pretty interesting. Check out more over at RoS.
Another Mike’s Thoughts: LTTP Edition
LTTP means Late To The Party. I just watch a bunch of movies and I haven’t written anything other than “Iron Man was good” and called Mutt Williams a “brachiating idiot.” So, let’s get to capsule format and see what I thought about stuff I watched over the past month.

Where we’ve been
Howdy to any and all BoO readers. As you may have noticed, we have been more or less MIA for a month or so now. It’s the busiest time for us at work (since we all work at the same company) and things outside of work have picked up considerably (vacations, etc.), thus leaving our beloved BoO behind. But, now that things are kind of beginning to calm down, we are making our way back. I for one have seen a considerable amount of movies (on DVD and in the theater) that I will be posting on and I’m pretty sure the same flies for Mike. So I hope you stick with us, it’s going to be a summer full of fun! Thanks for sticking with us.
Death Race trailer
Jason Statham + Ian McShane + Joan Allen + fast cars = good times all around. Watch it here.
Punisher War Zone trailer is up
And I don’t know what exactly to make of it. I enjoyed the first one enough and I like Titus Pullo (aka Ray Stevenson, I call him that from the HBO series, Rome), but I don’t know. Is the dialogue a bit… Velveeta? Check it out here.
Me llamo Benjamin Button
There’s a teaser floating around for David Fincher’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” It’s the story of a man (played by Brad Pitt) who is born old and ages backwards through his life. The trailer (in English) I hear is playing before Indiana Jones and the Brachiating Idiot. However, the internets only has it in Spanish. Which is okay as there isn’t much dialogue. Just random shots from the film and the Aquarium movement form Saint-Saens’ “Carnival of the Animals”. I’ve embedded it after the break.

Porno has a teaser
Zak & Miri Make a Porno has a teaser. And Mr. Smith has stated that not a lick of what’s in the teaser is in the movie. Can’t wait. Check it out right here.
Choke trailer is up
Long time no post. Vacation to Florida and work being busy, I have unfortunately let my posting slip. BUT, what a great way to come back by posting the trailer to a movie I have been waiting with bated breath for. The next film adaptation of a Chuck Palahniuk novel, Choke, finally has a trailer. And boy oh boy, does it look good. It looks like another nicely done adaptation as I can tell just from the trailer that a lot of dialogue was pulled right from the book. And Rockwell nails Vincent quite well. A quick synopsis of the story: Victor works at a medieval theme park and suffers from being a sex addict. In his free time, he chokes on purpose in restaurants and visits his ailing mother. Check out the trailer after the jump.
Prince of Persia Cast
I’m apparently the video game guy around here. A film adapatation of the Ubisoft game “The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” seems like a great idea. There’s a pretty fantastic story involving a sixth-century Persian Prince who’s castle has been taken over by a evil advisor by sand monsters. To aid in reclaiming his land, the Prince must rely on his preternatural acrobatics and the Dagger of Time, which allows him to either slow down time or reverse it for short periods. Another standout of the game is the quick wit of not just The Prince, but the romantic interest, Farah, who aids the Prince in destroying the sand demons and over turning the Vizier; also hilarity.
Jake Gyllenhall has just been tapped to play The Prince. I like Jake. I like Jake a lot. But I think I would kind of prefer, I dunno, a Persian to play to role. Or at least someone who looks and sounds Persian. Maybe this is knee jerk reaction, but this isn’t the kind of thing that can be seen as an inspired switch. It’s just weird. It isn’t Michael Clarke Duncan being Kingpin; it’s Charleton Heston playing a Mexican. I was hoping for something a little better, but I guess it could be worse.

From the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot file
There must be something in the water at Cannes this year. Chalking the Point Break and Donnie Darko sequels up to general “Milk Something People Have Fond Memories Of”, but I have not clue what to make of this. Not. One Clue.
Werner Herzog is slated to direct a remake. A remake of Bad Lieutenant, an Abel Ferrara film about a drug addicted, lowlife cop who investigates the brutal rape of a nun. It was known for vivid violence, sex, and drug use. Also, Harvey Keitel stoned and naked. Again. The remake will star Nic Cage and start filming this summer.
This has to be seen for morbid curiosity. Anything Herzog makes, from his fictions to non-fiction to any home videos he shot, it worth view at least once. Nic Cage is an actor that I grown to like. When he’s at his best and, especially, his most hilarious.
Stick around after the break to see the trailer for the original.

BIOSHOCK!
Movies based off of video games kind of… well, I was going to say “have a rough history”, but let’s face it. They suck. The best thing most people have is that “Silent Hill wasn’t terrible.” Which isn’t hard considering the competition is evolved dinosaurs or the anti-Christ. Occasionally, something comes along that gives us hope for the genre. Like Doom trying to be an action movie (then forgetting that Demons are more integral to the story then First Person Mode) or the previously mentioned Silent Hill or the soon to be coming defenders of Hitman.
Here’s another one of those bits. Bioshock was a game that came out last year to resounding commercial and critical success. The game starts in 1960 and you play as the only survivor of a plane crash. While floundering around in the ocean, you stumble accross an underground city called Rapture that was built my weatlhy industrialist Andrew Ryan. However, something has gone terribly wrong here. Genetic splicing and a divised power struggle has left the place in ruins leaving only mutants and the fearsome pairing of the Little Sisters and the Big Daddies. The game has magnificent combat, beautiful art design, and a compelling plotline. It’s notable that the plot and the city of Rapture were heavily influenced by the writings of Ayn Rand.
Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that the writing and directing duties have been handed to John “Aviator” Logan and Gore “Pirates of the Caribbean” Verbinski. Most complaints about the second and third PotC movies are pretty well warranted (especially the second), but the first was a fun ride. This is just enough hope to crush me. Stay after the break for some Bioshock videos to see what is awesome.

Some concept art and a promise I won’t fulfill
If you’re one of the four people who hasn’t seen Iron Man yet, I’m not sure what’s stopping you. I liked it a whole bunch and hope to write up a review today. That’s the promise I probably won’t fulfill (like all the articles I have planned).
The concept art is from The Dark Knight. Mind you, this is pretty spoiler heavy material, but if you saw the last trailer and know a bit about the DC universe, then this shouldn’t be a big big surprise. What should be is about how awesome it looks.
Ain’t It Cool still has the picture up because the original source was forced to remove it. Look now kids.
New Terminator going to be PG-13. Cue groans.
The only thing saving this next Terminator movie is Christian Bale. Many of us who have followed the franchise over the years and hold it near and dear to our hearts have been waiting a long time for the big human-machine war. And hear it comes, with a not great director and a… PG-13 rating? Really? No… really? I can only hope that they will change their minds later. You can read more about it on RoS.
